Using a metal barrel of 200 liters to make a simple concrete mixer for a summer house or home is a very good idea. This option will appeal to everyone who is used to saving, replacing factory devices and mechanisms with homemade ones.

First of all, it is necessary to make a cone-shaped narrowing in the upper part of the future concrete mixer drum. Narrowing will prevent spraying of the solution during mixing.

To do this, in the upper part of the metal barrel, it is necessary to make 16 cuts with trimming. First, the author makes a marking, then cuts out the lid of the barrel, and only after that - cuts.

After fitting, the resulting “petals” are fixed in position with tacks, and then scald.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, it will be necessary to make a supporting frame. For this, the author uses a profile pipe. Next, the metal barrel is installed already on the supporting support.

Then the master proceeds to manufacture the frame of the unloading mechanism. At this stage, it is desirable to determine the height of the racks. The author decided to make the frame of the unloading mechanism from a steel profile.

An important feature of this design is supporting rubber wheels, which, as planned, should provide easy rotation of the concrete mixer drum. It will be enough to install one wheel.

The last stage is the manufacture of the drive mechanism. In factory models, everything is simple: an engine with a gear and a gear ring are used there. It’s quite problematic to choose a gear ring in size, so the author decided to replace it with a motorcycle chain.

Five blades are attached inside the barrel to mix the solution. For the manufacture of blades, the author uses angles that are first attached to the bolts (on the walls and bottom of the drum), and then also scald for greater reliability.
