But only if you are not involved in blacksmithing, then there’s no point in buying an anvil on purpose. But you can make a fake, which looks no different from the original, and weighs much less. To make a fake anvil, you need a sheet of thick polystyrene or extruded polystyrene foam.
Preparatory stages of work
First, the main elements for assembling a fake structure must be cut out of the foam sheet. As a sample, you can take a real anvil or print a template downloaded from the Internet. Armed with a hand hacksaw, we cut out the anvil and the base under it. Then we remove the irregularities and grind the surface of the parts.
With the help of improvised hand tools (file-knife, files, sandpaper, etc.), we try to give the workpieces the most realistic texture - we form characteristic bends and transitions on the bed itself, and we also make the anvil horn. To do this, at one of the ends of the workpiece, you need to cut the shape of a truncated cone. We make the tail of the anvil square.
Finishing and painting the surface
After machining, we finish the grinding. Then we connect the anvil with the paws (base) and apply several layers of putty on the surface. At the last stage of the work, it remains only to paint the anvil. Painting of the finished product is carried out in several approaches, until it is possible to achieve the desired surface color.
