When the compressor starts to pump air (for example, when working with a sandblasting machine), the air heats up very much from compression, and therefore condensation forms when it enters the hose, which is much colder.
Thus, moisture enters the sandblast from the hose, as a result of which the sand inside becomes wet and “sticks” without getting into the mixer. To avoid this, you can make a simple dehumidifier for the compressor unit from a conventional water filter.
The main stages of work
This homemade product will require a reinforced plastic housing from a water filter that can withstand pressure up to 10 bar. Please note that a filter element for the manufacture of a moisture separator is not required, therefore, to cheapen the design in the store, you can simply buy the case itself.
To make a home-made device, you will also need a piece of polypropylene pipe, which is inserted inside the bulb (the length can be measured by the filter element). Small holes must be drilled on one side of the tube.
Using a gas burner we heat the edge of the polypropylene tube, and then glue it to the bottom of the filter flask. The free space between the tube and the walls of the plastic flask must be filled with silica gel (you can also use the most common cat litter).
