Purchased sets of accessories for servicing a stove, fireplace or barbecue are not cheap. If you need, for example, only one poker, then you can do it yourself from a steel chain and other improvised materials.
To make a home-made poker, you will need a chain segment (the links should be medium size), a hairpin or a long M8 bolt, a piece of a metal plate, washers, an eye-nut, three corks from a champagne bottle.
The first step is to clean the chain and plate from rust. To do this, you can use both the grinder and the sandblasting machine. But there is a third option - "soak" the workpiece in a rust exterminator.
The main stages of work
Next, it will be necessary to drill in three plugs from champagne holes in the center for the M8 hairpin. First, the author makes a guide hole with an awl, and then drills with a drill of a suitable diameter.
The next step is to weld the chain links together. For convenience, the master lays a chain between two sections of the profile pipe.
Then it remains only to weld a stud with a washer to one end of the chain, and put three plugs on it, fixing them with an eye-nut, to the other - a piece of a metal plate at right angles.
