What do (usually or most often) do with glass bottles left over after a feast? Right! They are thrown into the trash.
Why, instead of just throwing it away, turn them into beautiful glass goblets that will look just as good as purchased?
As the saying goes: why buy what you can do with your own hands? If you like this idea, then read the article further.
How to cut a glass bottle
To make glasses from glass bottles, you must first cut off the bottom with the bottom.
And this will require a bottle cutter. It can be whipped up from improvised materials. As a basis, the author uses a piece of chipboard (but you can take plywood).
Two bars are screwed to the base for stop. You will also need a glass cutter (where without it?) And a reciprocal level from the latch.

After the simplest homemade bottle cutter is assembled, you can already start cutting the bottles and, accordingly, to make the glasses themselves.
First you need to wash the glass bottles and remove paper labels from them so that they do not interfere.
Next, on a makeshift mini-machine, you need to make an even circular cut. The smoother the cut, the more likely it is to succeed.
Glass making process
The place of cut will need to be warmed up well. There are many ways to heat a bottle: from a thread dipped in alcohol to a gas burner or blowtorch.
But in this case, the author uses a building hair dryer. In his opinion, this is one of the easiest and most reliable ways.
We warm the cut place for about 30-40 seconds, after which we lower the bottle into a bucket of cold water.
After the glass has been punctured, you need to gently tap the bottle (for example, on the edge of the same bucket).
And we get two parts of the bottle as a result. We will need the lower part, which is with the bottom.
At the last stage, it remains only to polish the place of the cut with sandpaper: first large, and then fine.
