Surely everyone in their life had a situation where it was necessary to solder a fallen off thin wire, or to replace a very small SMD component with soldering, but there was only a regular soldering iron on hand. It is very difficult, if at all possible, to make small soldering with a thick sting. But here a trick can come to the rescue - life hack: how to make a mini-tip for an ordinary soldering iron, which is just right for such things.
Will need
- Copper wire (single-core insulation wire) 1-1.5 mm in diameter.
- Nippers.
- Pliers.
- File.
- Sharp knife.
- Well, of course, the soldering iron itself with a thick sting.
We finish the soldering iron tip for soldering small parts
We take a thick single-wire copper wire and bite off the desired length of about 10 cm. Using a knife, remove the insulation from the copper core. If you will use wire - do not forget to remove the varnish coating with a knife or annealing.

We take our soldering iron and wind the wire tightly onto the tip. To ensure the best heat transfer, it would be nice to pre-clean the sting from soot. Fine sandpaper is perfect for this.

We bend the back tip with pliers.

And we align the front one - this will be a new soldering iron tip.

Bite off the desired length. You should not leave a very long end - it will not warm up, and it will not be convenient to solder.

With the help of a file, we give the necessary shape to the new sting. In general, we grind under a bevel.

Now turn on the soldering iron and warm it up. We serve as usual a new sting using tin and rosin, the procedure is not tricky.

Now you can easily solder any SMD components or other small connections.

If you did everything correctly, the spiral should sit well and not hang out when soldering.
