Indian Style Tea Jar

Many houses have unnecessary cans left over from tea. From them you can easily make an original souvenir and a useful little thing. An Indian-style tea can using decoupage technique. The main thing here is to show your imagination and imagination.
To perform, you will need:

• A cardboard box or a can of tea.
• Acrylic paint for construction.
• PVA glue.
• Lacquer.
• Napkins with a suitable motif.
• Gouache paints.
• Glitter contour, mother of pearl.
• Different brushes

1. Cover the jar with a layer of acrylic. The paint should be applied evenly, carefully painting over the image on the can. Sometimes it is better to re-apply the acrylic layer so that the surface is perfectly even. We do the same with the cap.
2. We select the necessary motive on a napkin. In this case, it is an Indian elephant, you can also pick up oriental ornaments and colorful floral motifs. Separate the lower thin layers of the napkin from the image. With the help of scissors, we cut out a small whole fragment of the pattern, which we will glue first.
3. Prepare the glue. We dilute a small amount of PVA with water, stir until smooth. We begin to gently glue a piece of napkin onto the surface of the can, smoothing out all the wrinkles and bubbles that form. Usually a napkin fits well on a cardboard surface, so there should not be any big problems. With our hands we tear the napkin into small pieces and glue the edges of the jar, boldly lay the fragments one on top of the other - this will only give the image volume. Leave the jar to dry at room temperature.
4. For the surface of the lid, it is better to choose one integral fragment, so that the pattern fits evenly, without overlays. For example, here we use the eyes of an elephant. We glue the edges with the variegated remnants of napkins. Leave until glue is completely dry.
5. When the jar is dry, go to the decoration. Here you can safely show imagination - to highlight the elements of the picture with a contour, tint the edges with gouache, add sparkles. The gray pearl contour is perfect, which we apply to the upper and lower edges of the jar, and also cover the rim of the lid. To further highlight the edges and make them visually brighter, we use gold paint. Feel free to cover the individual fragments of the image with “gold”, draw a border, add shine where appropriate. Leave to dry for 10 minutes.
6. The final touch is to coat the product with varnish. You can choose a matte or glossy decoupage varnish that dries quickly enough. An alternative way can be a regular hair spray - densely spray it from a short distance onto a jar, and leave it to dry completely. In this case, it will have to be protected from water and only gently wipe with a damp cloth.
